• Do your research.
  Make sure the organization asking for your donation is a registered charity. Donating to a registered charity is the difference between an illegal and IRS-approved write-off. (Our tax I.D. number is 33-0492304, S.V.D.P. Management)
 
• Never give to a middleman.
  There are several companies that claim to give the proceeds of your donated vehicle to your charity of choice. What they don’t tell you is they are not required to give a specific percentage of the selling price of your car – as long as they give something; the middleman is not misrepresenting the service he provides. That means they could give $100 to your chosen charity after collecting $1,000 for your donated car, and it’s completely legal. If you give directly to a non-profit organization you ensure the entirety of your donation – after expenses – will fund the programs and services it offers the community. Father Joe's Villages never uses a middleman. No other agency is authorized to accept car donations on our behalf.
       
• Pay a visit.
  If a charity is asking for your donation, the least it can do is give you a tour of its facility. We welcome visitors from across the globe to witness first-hand the life-changing services it provides to our neighbors in need.

Your vehicle donation goes to funding life changing programs:

• Each year we provide over 300,000 shelter nights in short- and long-term housing for 420 men, 145 women and 246 families.
• 90% of families and 60% of individuals leaving our Long-term Transitional Housing program progress to successful independent housing.
• 100% of students graduating high school at Toussaint Academy of the Arts and Sciences go on to college or vocational school.
• 89 cents of every dollar donated to Father Joe’s Villages goes directly to help neighbors in need.
• We estimate that for every child or teenager we house, feed, educate and set on the path to success, we save society $1 million that would otherwise be spent on their legal, incarceration, rehabilitation, or social services costs.
• Every day, 3,400 neighbors in need access our meal program, showers, adult education, employment services, medical clinic and residential services.
• Up to 1.7 million meals are served annually to residents and neighbors in need in the community.
• 255 children receive more than 40,000 hours of Children’s Services annually.
• Our licensed on-site primary care clinic logs 35,000 medical, dental and psychiatric patient visits annually
