With
Pacific Storm Approaching,
St. Vincent’s Seeking
Donations of Blankets
SAN
DIEGO – St. Vincent
de Paul Village is encouraging San Diegans and area
retail outlets to donate blankets in
preparation for a large Pacific storm that’s
expected to hit the region Monday evening.
The
Village’s
stockpile of blankets has been depleted due in part
to the organization’s fire relief efforts
and ongoing assistance St. Vincent’s provides
to the less fortunate south of the border.
"
We typically have a healthy supply of blankets to
provide the homeless and smaller human-services
agencies during the
wet season," says Father Joe Carroll, president
of St. Vincent’s. "Unfortunately,
our reserve is nearly gone and there will be
a strong demand for blankets if the
storm brings the amount of precipitation it’s
expected to."
Individuals
and companies interested in donating blankets can call
(619) 687-1050
for information
on the nearest
St. Vincent’s thrift store or warehouse
location accepting the emergency drop-offs.
