Village
Residents to Enjoy Taste of Italy
La Jolla Restaurateur Will Donate Time, Skill to Prepare Special
Meal
SAN
DIEGO Residents living at St. Vincent de Paul Village will
enjoy an Italian feast prepared by the owner and chef of La Bruschetta
Restaurant in La Jolla on Monday, March 18, at 5:30 p.m. The dinner
will be served at the Villages 1501 Imperial Avenue location.
Chef
Nino Zizzo, with the help of volunteers from Western Capital Financial,
will serve up dishes of chicken parmigiana, lasagna and crème
brulee to as many as 500 Village residents.
President
of St. Vincents, Fr. Joe Carroll, says the special meal instills
a sense of hope in Village clients.
"Our
residents often come to us emotionally broken," he says. "But
then theyre introduced to our caring staff, folks like Nino
Zizzo and the volunteers from Western Capital Financial and they
realize all of these people have come together to lend them a helping
hand. Soon our residents see the compassion of these strangers and
they begin to believe in themselves again, regain their dignity
and once again hope for a brighter future. Its a gesture of
kindness that our clients will always remember."
Zizzo
will cook the entire meal in the St. Vincents kitchen, coming
in as early as the day before to begin preparing the meal. On Monday,
Zizzo will arrive at the Village at 1 p.m. to complete the meal
and organize volunteers and St. Vincents staff.
In
addition to providing volunteers for the days event, Western
Capital Financial will also cover a portion of the meals cost.
