Outback Steakhouse to Dish Out Food For
Charitable Donations
Local Radio Station Partners With Restaurant to Hold Drive for St.
Vincents
SAN DIEGO
The Outback Steakhouse, with the help of local radio station
103.7 The Planet, will hold a Mothers Day-themed drive in
behalf of St. Vincent de Paul Village on Friday, May 10, between
12 and 1:30 p.m. at the restaurants 4196 Clairemont Mesa Boulevard
location.
The Planet
has signed up 150 listeners to attend the benefit. Those listeners
will bring items ranging from bath gels to perfume to gently used
womens clothing, all of which has been earmarked for mothers
living at St. Vincents. For their contribution, donors will
enjoy lunch on that day at the Outback Steakhouse. The restaurant,
which traditionally only opens for dinner, will also be open for
lunch on Mothers Day.
Village
President, Fr. Joe Carroll, says these types of events underscore
what is at the core of the St. Vincents mission.
"Changing
lives is our focus," Fr. Joe says. "Central to that is
restoring in our less fortunate children, mothers and fathers the
dignity which has been lost to life on the streets. Donations of
health and beauty aids and the resulting joy it brings to our mothers
support our efforts to provide our clients a dignified environment
where self-worth is very much alive."
Currently,
60 mothers and 181 children live at St. Vincents. Most families
stay an average of six to eight months and avail themselves of programs
and services aimed at assisting families to regain their self-sufficiency.
