Father Joe Appears on Fox News Channel’s The O’Reilly Factor

St. Vincent de Paul Village President Father Joe Carroll was a guest on the May 17 edition of Fox News Channel’s The O’Reilly Factor, which is currently America’s fastest-growing news program.

Father Joe fielded questions from host Bill O’Reilly on the issues facing children in unmanageable home environments and the effectiveness of programs such as PromiseLand Ranch, a project undertaken by Father Joe in Campo, CA which will serve as a solution to the nation’s overburdened foster care system.

"We’re very pleased that Bill O’Reilly recognizes the dire state America’s foster care system is currently in," says Father Joe. "As [O’Reilly] said on the show, we need to make PromiseLand happen – there are children all over America who need our help."

The ranch’s residential facility will be home to 250 children. Those children will live in groups of eight in small homes called casitas. Married couples – life coaches – will provide parental leadership, mentoring and love while living full-time with the children in the casitas.

Just like St. Vincent de Paul Village in San Diego, PromiseLand will offer rehabilitative programs and services on-site, including a school, counseling and recreational activities.

There are currently 7,000 children in San Diego County’s foster care system. Comparatively, there are only 1,500 trained foster parents, leaving a large number of children with no alternative residential and personal-growth options.
