Kelsey-Jenney Scholarship Program Puts St. Vincent Women on the
Right "PATH"
SAN
DIEGO Five St. Vincent de Paul Village residents will be
making the transition from shelter life to self-sufficiency with
the help of scholarships awarded by Kelsey-Jenney College in San
Diego at a 7:30 a.m. breakfast banquet being held today, June 9,
at the Horton Grand Hotel.
A
$10,000 educational endowment is awarded to each St. Vincent client
who makes an exemplary effort in reaching the milestones set forth
in the Villages case-managed curriculum and is made available
by Kelsey-Jenneys Providing Advancement, Training and Hope
(PATH) scholarship program.
Long-term
Village residents Kathleen Whited, Gina Gleason, Lucy Decespedes,
Margaret Howard and Venita Sorrell have earned the opportunity to
pursue careers in any of the fields Kelsey-Jenney offers because
they have demonstrated the motivation and aptitude needed to meet
the demands college coursework presents.
The
school has offered PATH scholarships for the past four years, during
which time 13 have been awarded. Village alumni who have benefited
from the Kelsey-Jenney scholarships will return to participate in
the mornings festivities.
Kelsey-Jenney
College offers associate of science degrees and diploma-level training
in the business, computer, medical and legal fields. The school
is dedicated to working closely with employers to continually update
curricula in an effort to expand its class selection and other academic
programs.
