KSWB Cares for Kids Fund Continues its Support
of St. Vincents
Local Television Station Has Donated Over $1 million to Help Village
Children
SAN DIEGO St. Vincent
de Paul Village President Fr. Joe Carroll will accept a $95,000
check from the charitable arm of local television station KSWB 5/69
in support of the organizations childrens services programs.
WB News at Ten anchor Jeff Powers will make the presentation on
Monday, July 29, at 3 p.m., at Jinny Jo Park, located on the corner
of 17th Street and Commercial Street.
The donation was made possible
by the KSWB Cares for Kids Fund, a fund of the McCormick
Tribune Foundation, and will support myriad childrens programs
from family literacy programs to day care to counseling services
offered at St. Vincents.
Over the years, the KSWB
Cares for Kids Fund has donated over $1 million to St. Vincents,
including $400,000 gifts in 1998 and 1999, which allayed the loss
of government grants supporting the Villages Toussaint
Teen Center.
"Were incredibly
fortunate to have the support of the KSWB Cares for Kids Fund,"
Fr. Joe says. "The compassion the good people at KSWB have
displayed to St. Vincents and their steadfast support of our
childrens programs serve as a fine example of what community
partnerships can offer our less fortunate neighbors, particularly
our homeless kids."
The KSWB Cares for Kids Fund,
a fund of the McCormick Tribune Foundation, was established to improve
the lives of children and families in San Diego County by supporting
local childrens charities. Since its inception, the KSWB
Cares for Kids Fund has donated more than $8 million to local
childrens charities.
