State Senator to Visit, Meet Residents
From St. Vincent’s
SAN DIEGO – State Senator Richard
Alarcón is scheduled
to visit St. Vincent de Paul Village, located at 1501 Imperial Avenue,
today at 12:30 p.m. where he will meet with families living in the
facility to gain a better understanding of the circumstances which
led to their
becoming homeless.
Alarcón, the senate’s majority whip
and the chair of it’s Select Committee on the Status of Ending
Poverty in California, is visiting San Diego to attend a community
presentation tomorrow
on issues
facing the city’s poor.
President of St. Vincent’s,
Father Joe Carroll, will greet Alarcón and provide a brief
overview of the comprehensive services the Village provides, which
include affordable housing.
The senator was a driving force behind the state’s allocation
of $550 million for affordable-housing programs.
