Republican Gubernatorial Candidate’s Wife to Visit St. Vincent’s

Cindy Simon, wife of Republican gubernatorial candidate Bill Simon, will visit and take a Fr. Joe-guided tour of St. Vincent de Paul Village, 1501 Imperial Avenue, on Wednesday, September 25, at 3 p.m.

Cindy Simon will spend the bulk of her time visiting the Career and Education Center, where Village clients and area residents alike can access job-training services, seek career counseling, find a job and take a number of classes all aimed at helping them become employable.

Bill Simon, who visited St. Vincent’s in July, recognizes affordable housing and quality, dependable child care as challenges California faces.

St. Vincent’s continues to assist less fortunate families and single adults facing those challenges. The Village owns and manages a 44-unit affordable housing complex and has reached the half-way point in the construction of a second 90-unit apartment complex for individuals on fixed incomes. St. Vincent’s also provides full-time, state-certified child care for as many as 160 children living at the Village.

Those three components – employment, affordable housing and dependable child care – are pillars of the Village’s rehabilitative services.
