Services Company to Donate Items to St. Vincents Childrens
Program
Donors and Village Children Will Create Mural in Honor of Local
Military Personnel
SAN
DIEGO St. Vincent de Paul Village will receive a donation
of goods earmarked for its Childrens Services program on Saturday,
Oct. 13, at 9 a.m. at the homeless rehabilitation center, 1501 Imperial
Avenue.
EDS,
a leader in the management of business technology in the digital
economy, will present items ranging from diapers and clothing
to baby food to the Village as part of the companys
annual charitable outreach program.
About
a dozen EDS employees will deliver the donations and participate
in a planned group activity with St. Vincents families.
Those
families, along with the help of EDS staff, will decorate a large
poster board in honor of the many local military personnel who are
taking part in Americas response to the Sept. 11 attacks on
New York City, Washington, D.C. and Pennsylvania. Notes of support,
poems and other messages from the Village residents and EDS volunteers
will cover the board. When completed, the piece will be sent to
the sailors on the San Diego-based guided-missile destroyer USS
John Paul Jones (DDG 53), currently operating in the Persian Gulf
region.
EDS
will also hand out small American flags to the children, giving
the youngsters and their families the opportunity to show their
patriotism.
EDS
is currently working closely with the military on a developing project
the Navy Marine Corps Intranet Information Strike Force
which, upon completion, will make a full range of information services
available to sailors and marines for day-to-day activities and during
times of war.
