Local Attorneys Will Gather to Support Village Children
Event Also Recognizes Integrity, Devotion of Legal Community

SAN DIEGO — As many as 500 members of San Diego’s legal community will gather at the Hyatt Regency Hotel Downtown San Diego at 1 Market Place on Saturday, October 20 at 5:30 p.m. in an effort to raise funds for St. Vincent de Paul Village’s Children’s Services programs.

Named after Maurice "Red" Boudreau, a local trial attorney and one of the founding board members of St. Vincent’s, the dinner supports Children’s Services at the Village, which is home to as many as 300 young people who access the many rehabilitative programs offered at the downtown facility.

Part of the celebration includes the presentation of the Daniel T. Broderick III Award for Civility, Integrity and Professionalism. This year’s recipient is Edward D. Chapin, chairman of Chapin Shea McNitt & Carter. For nearly 30 years Chapin has contributed his time and talents to the legal field and his community, while promoting professionalism in business and law.

President of St. Vincent’s, Fr. Joe Carroll, commended the annual outreach of the San Diego legal community.

"For 17 years we have held this event in part to recognize the integrity of those in the field of law," he said. "Their devotion and generosity to Children’s Services at St. Vincent’s prove this celebration is well-deserved."

The American Board of Trial Advocates, San Diego Defense Lawyers, Association of Business Trial Lawyers and Consumer Attorneys of San Diego are sponsoring the event.
