Looking for Caloric Redemption Hit La Jolla Streets
Run Attracts Hundreds, "Little Rockers" Compete, Too
SAN
DIEGO The Hard Rock Café La Jolla will host the 11th
Annual Rock-n-Roll Run to benefit St. Vincent de Paul Village on
Saturday, Nov. 24. The "Little Rockers" 1-mile Fun Run
will start at 7:30 a.m. with the 5-kilometer race following at 8
a.m. Both events begin and end at the Hard Rock Café La Jolla
at 909 Prospect.
As
many as 2,000 participants will take to the streets of La Jolla,
enjoying a breath-taking view of the Pacific Ocean while also making
a difference in the lives of thousands of San Diegos homeless
families and individuals.
Last
years event raised $17,000 for the Village, an amount which
Father Joe Carroll, president of St. Vincents and honorary
race director, is eager
to improve.
"Every
year we see an increase in the demand for services the Village offers,
especially during the winter months," he says. "To meet
the needs of this growing population many of them families
with children we depend on the success of events such as
this run."
Run
participants will be treated to a post-race party where they will
receive a Hard Rock Café event T-shirt and enjoy the restaurants
famous chili as well as fruit and refreshments.
Sponsors
of this years event include San Diegos 101 KGB, XO Communications,
United Airlines, Hyatt Regency, Miller Light and Hard Rock Café
La Jolla.
Individuals
interested in participating may register in-person at the Hard Rock
Café La Jolla. A $22 contribution is required for the 5-K
run and $15 for the Fun Run. Registration the day of the event is
$25.
