To Receive Donation From Local Grocer
Gift Will Help Provide Food Over the Winter Months
SAN
DIEGO Father Joes Villages President Fr. Joe Carroll
will accept a $5,000 check from Whole Foods Market supporting his
organizations hunger-outreach efforts on Friday, November,
30, at 10:30 a.m. at the stores 711 University Avenue location.
The
gift was made possible by a Food Industry Crusade Against Hunger
program, FOOD FOR ALL, with which Whole Foods Market partnered
to support charities that provide meal programs for the homeless.
The program raised over $70,000 nationally.
"Whole
Foods Market is proud to partner with FOOD FOR ALL," says Michael
Besancon, president of Whole Foods Markets Southern-pacific
region. "Our customers have donated generously to helping our
hungry neighbors."
Fr.
Joe says the donation is important to support meal programs at the
Villages over the cold and busy winter months.
"Were
entering the time of year when the demand for our services is very
high," he says. "The
support of FOOD FOR ALL and Whole Foods Market will go a long way
towards helping the most vulnerable and often forgotten members
of our community: the homeless."
Whole
Foods Market offers a large selection of high quality, great-tasting,
natural and organic fresh food and products to support wellness
and a healthy lifestyle.
The
check will support Fr. Joes Indio, Calif. outreach facility,
Marthas Village & Kitchen, which like St. Vincent de Paul
Village, offers myriad programs and services to help homeless families
with children and single adults.
