Dear Neighbors,

Anybody who has ever had kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews or foster children knows all about the end-of-school-year anxiety, when you wake up one day in a bit of a panic and ask yourself: “What am I going to do with the kids this summer?!”

Now multiply that by 400 and you know how I feel this time of year when I start thinking about how I’m going to send all the children at St. Vincent de Paul Village to summer camp.

Summer camp is not just a way to get kids out of the house; it’s part of a well-rounded childhood of new and enriching experiences … camp engages children and teaches them about the world outside the house and the classroom. I can’t think of anyone who needs, and is more deserving of, a weeklong adventure than a child who is dealing with being homeless.

For most children living at the Village, their summer camp experience is a first. The first time they roast a marshmallow … the first time they go to the beach or even see the ocean … the first time they experience an amusement park … the first time they visit a museum … the first time they ride a horse.

Your gift of just $125 will let one child enjoy summer camp. Please help a child experience one of life’s most enjoyable rites of passage this summer.

or Father Joe, use my gift as needed.

  Thank You and God Bless,
P.S. Share your personal camp experience with Father Joe, be email, here.
