Resident Rejoices at First Pay Check
By Teresa A. Sanchez - Volunteers Services

I was going up the stairs when I heard a voice shouting, “Look at my first paycheck.” I turned around and saw a young woman with three teenage girls coming up the stairs.

I stopped and looked at her radiant face and the paycheck she was holding in her hand. Dolores is one of our residents at Martha's Village & Kitchen. She was so proud.

Next evening, I was in the kitchen, when I noticed Dolores doing her assigned chores for the day. I approached her and said hello. She asked me if I would introduce her to the four volunteers that were working so she could thank them for her first paycheck.

When she met them, she shook everyone’s hand and thanked them for volunteering and for making her first paycheck possible. The volunteers were thrilled to hear this success story.
