Honorees Recognized for Supporting St.
Vincent de Paul Village Children
By Mark Tsuchiya
St. Vincent de Paul Village will hold its 21st
annual Children’s
Charity Dinner on Saturday, March 27, at the Manchester Grand Hyatt
in downtown San Diego.
This year’s honorees include long-time
board treasurer Bob Fischer, Union Bank of California, Toussaint
Academy, Harbor Elementary
School and the Village’s Ladies’ Guild.
In the past
two decades, the dinner has raised over $2 million for homeless
and abandoned youth who have accessed Village services
aimed at helping them regain stability in their lives and, ultimately,
self-sufficiency.
Sponsored by KSWB Cares for Kids, a fund of the
McCormick Tribune Foundation, the dinner is a black-tie optional
affair that has
developed into one of St. Vincent’s most successful fund-raising
events.
"
I never cease to be amazed by the ongoing support the people of
San Diego and beyond have given the Village so that we may continue
to care for the forgotten, troubled and homeless children who access
our life-changing services," Father Joe said. "Our honorees
this year exemplify that unyielding support and are worthy of recognition
far greater than I could ever give."
